Advisory: Mattress encasements are considered a “bundle item” and should be purchased with a box-spring encasement. Utilizing these two items in tandem will severely limit the number of hiding places for bed bugs on your bed unit. Using a mattress encasement without encasing the box-spring still permits bed bugs access to ideal nesting and hiding place in your bed.
Miracle Membrane™ - A unique material composition that achieves impermeability to bed bugs, microscopic airborne allergens, and water or other moisture while remaining breathable. This material is wrapped in a cotton-based, blended material for maximum comfort. Some encasements can be purchased without the cotton-based, blended material.
What does this really mean? - This material will provide total protection from anything it encases and will be impermeable to external objects. It also means the encasement will be extraordinarily comfortable to sleep on.
BugLock ™ with Secure Seal- This feature offers a three-sided zipper system with micro-zipper teeth specifically designed to prevent bed bugs from weaving their way through the closed zipper. This is especially important for nymph bed bugs that are only one millimeter small. The Bug Lock™ feature is designed with raised padding underneath the zipper end stop, which creates an impassable seal. The seal prevents passage of bed bugs into and out of the encasement even if the zipper clasp slightly pulls away from the zipper end stop. Secure Seal™ is another proactive feature that prevents the zipper-pull from backing away from the end clasp.
What does this really mean? Bed bugs will be unable to migrate in or out the encasement and have access to your mattress. Additionally, these features make the zipper system tamper resistant and will still provide a degree of protection even if the zipper backs off slightly, ensuring the greatest level of protection of any mattress encasement on the market. The 3-sided seal makes installation a breeze.
Why do you need this product?
Save your existing bed: Many people are under the misconception that the solution to a bed bug problem is to throw away the bed. This is false—bed bugs are rarely limited to just the mattress and more typically inhabit surrounding locations in addition to the mattress. In fact, improperly moving the mattress out of the home can actually spread the infestation further.
Unless bed bugs have been completely eradicated from the home, beds that have been purchased as replacements will also become infested by pests still present in the home. Using an encasement will not only kill the bed bugs currently infesting the mattress, but also prevent future mattress infestations and prevent unnecessary expense.
Discarding your mattress: If you decide to discard your mattress, it is advised that you use a disposal encasement specially designed to prevent spreading the bed bug infestation throughout your residence.
Early Detection: Encasements can serve as an excellent early detection tool. The flat-white color of the encasement makes it easy to identify the warning signs of an infestation. In addition to the color, these encasements offer no hiding places for bed bugs like those found on mattresses or other typical encasement products. These hiding places can include tag pockets, handles, seams or edges. Protect-A-Bed encasements will ensure that bed bugs remain vulnerable and easy to detect earlier. Catching an infestation earlier will make it easier and more affordable to treat.
Proactive and reactive use: Encasements are an excellent proactive counter measure to minimize the effects of an infestation through early detection. They are also a valuable reactive measure if you discover an infestation because it will kill any encased bed bugs over time.
Must Bundle This Item: A mattress encasement should always be used with a box-spring encasement. In many cases, the box-spring is an ideal hiding and nesting area for bed bugs. Leaving the box-spring un-encased provides bed bugs with numerous cracks and crevices to not only hide, but also lay thousands of eggs. For total protection, both the mattress and box-spring must be encased.
